Happy Saint Patrick’s Day from Burt’s Pumpkin Farm!

They say a little luck goes a long way, but here at Burt’s Pumpkin Farm, we believe it takes a mix of luck, hard work, and plenty of prayers to keep our beloved farm thriving. As we celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day, we wanted to take a moment to share some exciting updates straight from the fields!

This past week, we posted a fascinating and educational video about our low-impact farming methods. If you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check it out on our Facebook page! We’re always looking for ways to keep our soil healthy while preserving the land we love, and this video is a great way to learn more about how we do just that.

I also had the chance to chat with Tyler Goodwin, one of the grandsons on the farm, about what’s happening in the fields. One exciting development? We’re getting ready to plant mustard! Curious why we chose mustard? I was too, so I asked Tyler. He explained:

“It flowers, and then we will turn it under and let it decompose. As it decomposes, it acts as a natural fumigant against bugs and any disease in the soil.”

How cool is that? Farming isn’t just about planting seeds—it’s about understanding the land and working with nature to ensure healthy crops year after year.

In other farm news, we finished building the new bridge a couple of weeks ago! Not too shabby for a bunch of pumpkin farmers, if we do say so ourselves! (Check out the picture below!) We take pride in every part of the farm, and projects like this help keep it running smoothly for all of our visitors to enjoy.

Stay tuned for more updates as we gear up for another amazing pumpkin season. Until then, we’re sending you all a little Irish luck and a whole lot of farm-grown love! 🍀🎃
