A Legacy of Love: The Story of Burt’s Pumpkin Farm
Nestled in the heart of Dawsonville, Georgia, Burt’s Pumpkin Farm is more than just a place to pick pumpkins—it’s a place built on love, tradition, and family. And it all started with Johnny and Kathy Burt’s beautiful love story.
Johnny and Kathy met in school back in 1965, and just two years later, they tied the knot. As they built their life together, they welcomed children and worked hard to provide for their growing family. While Johnny was training for his job in Chicago, he got the idea to start growing pumpkins—a small dream that would turn into something much bigger.
When they returned home to Georgia, they started planting pumpkins and selling them at the entrance of Amicalola Falls & State Park. It wasn’t long before they realized they needed more space, and that’s when Burt’s Pumpkin Farm was born. With a whole lot of love, faith, and dedication, they built something special—something that has been bringing families together for generations.
Over the years, their love never wavered. They were blessed with children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and in 2017, they celebrated 50 years of marriage. Their story isn’t just about pumpkins—it’s about the power of love, hard work, and family.
As we celebrate love this February, we can’t help but think about the greatest love of all—the love of our Father, Jesus. His love is constant, unconditional, and bigger than we can ever imagine. Just like a seed grows into something amazing, His love is always there, nurturing us and filling our hearts. No matter where you are or what season you’re in, never forget—you are deeply loved.
And speaking of seasons, we’re just a little over 200 days away from reopening this fall—but who’s counting? Things are quiet around the farm right now, but we’re already looking forward to welcoming you back for another season of pumpkin-filled fun.
This February, we hope you feel surrounded by love—whether it’s from family, friends, or even the simple joys of everyday life. And always remember—you are so loved!
